How many films of Belarusian directors have you seen? And how many of them received such wide publicity as “Crystal”? The film won awards at international film festivals in Odessa, Karlovy Vary, and was also invited to more than 20 film festivals around the world. Plus to all achievements, nominated for an Oscar in the category "Best Foreign Language Film"!

The story tells about the Belarusian 90s, and specifically the plot is built around the heroine Veli. Creative girl DJ dreams of freedom, the cult "American dream." But harsh realities do not fit with the position of a candidate for a state visa, so I had to go for a trick. However, the events, in turn, are structured in such a way that life does not change in distant America, but in the nearby village of Khrustalny.

The moments of the 90s in Belarus are perfectly shown that even those who did not live at that crucial time still feel unity with the events shown on the screen. However, these are such subtle worlds that a person with a different genetic code is unlikely to understand. Therefore, how can we evaluate the historicity of the moment?

The opinions of the audience differ: someone believes that “pungency” and “sociality” are enough in life, and why once again show it in the movies? Others are simply happy to draw attention to the then Belarusian reality, which is partially preserved to this day. But everyone equally appreciates the visual component of the film, a good acting game.
